North Vernon Police Department Investigating Catalytic Converter Thefts

These thefts have occurred during businesses on highway 3 and highway 7.

(North Vernon, Ind.) - The North Vernon Police Department is investigating a recent surge in Catalytic Converter Thefts.

These thefts have occurred during businesses on highway 3 and highway 7. The police department believes that these locations are being targeted due to the vehicles being parked out of sight in darker areas. The department is suggesting businesses park vehicles in well-lit areas or in a secured building.

"We urge everyone to be aware of your surroundings and watch for suspicious activity. If you see things such as people crawling under vehicles with handheld saws or hear noises like metal being cut from under a vehicle, report it immediately," said the Police Department.

Anyone with information regarding these recent thefts is encouraged to contact the North Vernon Police Department Detective's division at (812) 346-1466 or at (812) 346-2345.
