Crash remains under investigation
On September 1, 2025, at approximately 2:11 p.m., the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office responded to a multi-vehicle collision in the 8000 block of North State Road 7. The incident involved three vehicles.
Gavin Creed Perry, 18, of North Vernon, Indiana, the driver of vehicle one, was transported via airlift to the University of Louisville Hospital for further treatment.
Edwin Dale Harmond, 49, of Madison, Indiana, the driver of vehicle two, was extricated by fire and medical personnel but succumbed to his injuries prior to airlift to the University of Louisville Hospital.
A juvenile passenger in Mr. Harmond's vehicle was also airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital for medical care.
Bonnie Jean Harmon, 49, of Madison, Indiana, the driver of vehicle three, received treatment at the scene and was released.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office appreciates the community's patience during the road closure and resulting traffic delays.
Special thanks are extended to the Dupont Fire Department, Madison Township Fire Department, City of Madison Clifty Six Fire Department, Hanover Fire Department ,Jefferson County Coroner's Office, PHI, Air Methods, St. Vincent Helicopter Service, and Norton's King's Daughters Hospital EMS for their on-scene support.
The incident remains under investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and the Indiana State Police Reconstruction Team.
