Jefferson County Sees Slight Increase In Unemployment Numbers

Jefferson County’s unemployment rate is still lower than that of the state which is 4.9 percent

(Indianapolis, Ind.) – The Indiana Department of Workforce Development released the unemployment numbers by county for the month of November.

This month Jefferson County saw an increase in unemployment rates from 4.3 percent in October to 4.4 percent in November.

Out of all of Indiana’s 92 counties, Jefferson County was ranked 32nd for unemployment percentage, but even with this increase, Jefferson County’s unemployment rate is still lower than that of the state which is 4.9 percent

As for neighboring counties, Switzerland County was ranked 10th with 5.4 percent, Scott County was ranked 15th with 5.1 percent, Jennings County was ranked 23rd with 4.8 percent, and Ripley County was ranked 63rd with 3.9 percent.

Four of the five counties saw an increase in unemployment rates, Scott County’s unemployment rate held steady from October to November.
