UPDATE from Thursday, June 4 from Southeastern Indiana REMC:
SEI Fiber customers may notice improvements in service this morning as a temporary solution has been implemented to restore connectivity. While many customers are now back online, customers with higher-speed packages may experience slower-than-normal internet speeds while this temporary solution remains in place.
Customers who are still without service should unplug their ONT (Optical Network Terminal), wait approximately 30 seconds, plug it back in, and then restart their router.
SEI Fiber continues to work closely with our upstream fiber provider as efforts continue toward a permanent solution. At this time, we cannot confirm or deny the exact cause of the outage, as we have not been provided with that information.
Customers should be aware that additional service interruptions may occur as permanent repairs are completed. We will continue to provide updates as confirmed information becomes available.
Over the next several days, we will continue to communicate updates regarding the permanent repair process and any potential impacts to SEI Fiber customers.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as restoration efforts continue.
UPDATE from Wednesday, June 3 from Southeastern Indiana REMC's Facebook page:
The fiber outage remains ongoing at this time. SEI Fiber connects members through an upstream fiber provider, and that provider is currently experiencing an outage. This issue continues to affect multiple providers in the area, not just SEI Fiber.
Our team remains in direct communication with our upstream fiber provider as they work to restore service. We understand how frustrating it is to be without service, and we are continuing to ask for the same information our members are asking for, including when service will be restored.
At this time, we still do not have an estimated restoration time. We will share confirmed updates as soon as more information becomes available.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
