Three arrested on narcotic related charges following traffic stops

All have the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty

                                        

October 26, 2023, The Madison Police Department arrested three individuals on narcotic related charges following traffic stops.

Arrested - Mark A. Wilmot 50, Richmond, Indiana, was taken into custody following a traffic stop on Wilson Avenue, for an equipment violation.  Madison Police K-9 Officer Trent Smith and his partner “colt” responded to the stop, where “Colt” conducted an open-air sniff around the exterior of Wilmot’s vehicle.  The K-9 gave a positive indication for the presence of narcotics.  During the subsequent probable cause search, officers located cocaine, fentanyl, and paraphernalia associated with the use of drugs.  Wilmot faces preliminary alleged charges of possession of cocaine L-6 felony, possession of fentanyl L-6 felony, maintaining a common nuisance L-6 felony and possession of paraphernalia class C misdemeanor.  Wilmot has the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.  Officer Curtis Shelpman executed the traffic and was assisted by Officer Jared Sweet, Officer Cody Short and Smith. 

Arrested – Kori Ranshaw 29, Aurora, Indiana and Deshawn A. Floyd 29, Aurora, Indiana, were taken into custody following a traffic stop for speeding.   Officer Graham Heffelfinger executed the stop near Wilson Ave. and noted an odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle driven by Ranshaw.  The subsequent probable cause search led to the discovery of methamphetamine, marijuana, and scheduled drugs.  Ranshaw faces preliminary alleged charges of possession of a scheduled drug L-6 felony, possession of marijuana class B-misdemeanor, and driving while suspended class A-misdemeanor.  Floyed faces preliminary alleged charges of possession of methamphetamine L-6 felony, and possession of marijuana class B misdemeanor.  Both Kori Ranshaw and Deshawn Floyed have the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.  Officer Curtis Shelpman assisted Heffelfinger with the stop.
