Student Pandemic EBT Card Benefits Extended

P-EBT provides food assistance to families with students who would have received free or reduced lunch while attending school but currently not in school.

(Indianapolis, Ind.) - The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration has announced that Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) benefits have been authorized by Public Law 11-6159, through the Federal Fiscal Year of September 30, 2021.

P-EBT provides food assistance to families with students who would have received free or reduced lunch while attending school but currently not in school due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Families who are eligible will be issued a card in which they may purchase food.

The eligibility criteria for students are as follows:

  • Schools must be closed or had a delayed start for five consecutive days OR have a hybrid model in place.
  • Schools must be a provider of the National School Lunch Program and/or School Breakfast Program.
  • Students must be enrolled in an Indiana School.

School eligibility is as follows:

  • Scholl is a participant in the National School Lunch Program, School Lunch Program, or the Community Eligibility Provision
  • School had delayed opening of at least 5 consecutive days
  • School has been closed for at least 5 consecutive days
  • School offered a hybrid schedule
  • School must not normally participate in a hybrid schedule.

The FSSA stated that DFR will work in partnership with all Indiana schools to obtain the required student demographic information.
