Will help ten families
The City of Madison is excited to announce that the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) has reviewed their application for the Madison Stellar Owner-Occupied Rehab program and has awarded the full amount requested, $250,000.00, in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for the project. The funds awarded through this CDBG Owner-Occupied Rehabilitation grant are a result of Madison’s designation as an Indiana Stellar Community in fall 2017.
The program will assist a total of ten (10) families (meeting specific criteria) living within the city limits of Madison with improvements to their homes. All beneficiaries have been identified at this time. Once the City receives their grant agreement from IHCDA and completes the “release of funds” process, which can take several months, work will commence on the project.
“I am very pleased that we are seeing some of the first fruits of our Stellar designation through this program. SIRPC has helped numerous families utilize this program in Madison and Jefferson County in the last few years and I’m excited about the good work that can be accomplished again through this program,” said Mayor Damon Welch.
