Some Trash Customers in Madison Not Billed For Rate Increase

Software not updated

A rate increase for trash, recycling and compost collection that Madison residents were scheduled to begin paying starting with their April billing cycle was passed on to only about half of the city’s customers due to a delay in updating billing software,

Residents were scheduled to see the increase on their utility bill due May 10, but a billing error failed to pass along the hike on bills received by some customers.

To correct the billing error, customers who were under-billed in April will see an “April Trash Bill Adjustment Charge” of $7.65 on their May bills due in June to make up for the under-billing on the April statement.
