(Cincinnati, Oh.) – On Thursday, April 16 a small plane that was heading for Lunken Airport had to make an emergency landing on Interstate 75, crashing into a concrete barrier.
The plane landed in the northbound lanes of the highway near Ronald Reagan without hitting any vehicles around 11:30 a.m.
WLWT News 5 reported that the pilot, John Bennett, 61, of Indianapolis was the only person in the plane.
News 5 also reported spectators stating they heard the plane backfiring before watching it land on the highway.
Cincinnati officials said that the pilot was having engine issues and was able to radio officials letting them know he was going down prior to the crash.
The northbound lanes of I-75 reopened last night at 7:30 p.m. following the emergency landing.
