Will begin again this morning

Indiana Conservation Officers are searching for a missing 6 year-old child in the Flatrock River in Columbus.

Shortly after 3 p.m. Thursday, authorities were dispatched to the Flatrock River at Mill Race Park in Columbus in reference to a missing child. Initial investigation revealed the child was playing on a sandbar with family members, when he ventured into deeper water and was swept away.  Family members attempted to rescue the child, but efforts were unsuccessful.

The search was suspended last due around 10:30 to the dark conditions.  Search operations will resume this morning at 8:00 a.m.

Family members say that Brendan and his family had just moved to Columbus about a month ago. The boy’s father, a member of the Indiana National Guard, was recently deployed to Australia. Family say he’s set to return home on Tuesday.
