By Carey Huls- Indiana State Police Sellersburg

This incident occurred on Thursday, October 8.

(Scott County, Ind.) - On October 8, Trooper Mark Lamaster, with the Indiana State Police in Sellersburg, observed two males riding a blue Harley-Davidson motorcycle near Lexington, Indiana. During that time, Trp. Lamaster was trying to locate a fugitive, wanted by U.S. Marshalls and the FBI, who had been spotted earlier in the area. The motorcycle operator's clothing matched the description of the fugitive.

Trooper Lamaster attempted to catch up to the motorcycle and observed one of the male riders now standing in the middle of the road. The other subject was now riding the bike through a grassy field towards a wooded area. It appeared the rider, later identified as Michael L. Weston, 47, Austin, was attempting to elude Trooper LaMaster. After speaking with the subject in the roadway, Lamaster observed the motorcycle parked near a wood line.

Trooper Tyler Matthew and other officers quickly arrived and entered the woods to assist in searching for Weston. Michael Weston was soon located lying face down on his stomach. It appeared he was attempting to conceal himself in the thick brush a short distance from where officers entered the woods.

Further investigation revealed Weston's driver's license was suspended and the motorcycle was listed as stolen by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. After making identification, officers confirmed that Michael Weston was not the fugitive authorities were initially trying to locate.

Trooper Tyler Matthew charged Michael Weston with Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle, Auto Theft, and Driving While Suspended - Prior. He was incarcerated at the Scott County Jail without further incident.
