Residents Will Be Out At The Victoria Inn By 5pm This Afternoon

Building labeled as unsafe and uninhabitable

Madison Building inspector Mark Johnson said yesterday that all of the residents will be out of the Victoria Inn easily by 5 p.m. this afternoon as the final details were being done to relocate the handful who remained.

Johnson and fire chief Bill DeVries labeled the building unsafe and uninhabitable. In separate inspections, cited dozens of violations of the building and fire codes.

Johnson has lined up a contractor to bring the Victoria Inn into compliance with codes.

The city will pay the contractor and then send a bill to owner Mark E. Nay, which the same kind of procedure the city uses for nuisance lawns with tall grass.
