Near Belterra
Monday, at approximately 11:10 pm, the Indiana State Police responded to the Belterra Casino, located in Florence, Indiana after a pedestrian was struck by a passenger car on State Road 156 in front of the casino.
The initial investigation by Trp. Andrew Garrett indicated that a black 2008 Mazda passenger car, being driven by Patricia Villines, age 62, Warsaw, Kentucky was traveling eastbound on State Road 156 in front of the Belterra Casino. The investigation indicated that four people were attempting to walk across State Road 156 to an overflow parking lot across the highway from the casino. One of those individuals, Robert V. Loughry, age 47, Gahanna, Ohio was struck by Villines’ vehicle while attempting to cross the roadway.
Loughry sustained fatal injuries in the collision. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Switzerland County Coroner’s Office.
Toxicology results are pending on Villines and Loughry.
Loughry’s family has been notified.
The investigation is ongoing.
