December 3, 2021, @ approximately 11:58 AM Madison Police responded to a personal injury accident on Main Street @ West Street. Jodi Cayton, 37, Carrollton, Kentucky, was walking North across Main Street, in the designated crosswalk area, when she was struck by a vehicle.
The driver of the Kia 4-door was identified as Karin Burns 66, Madison, Indiana. Burns was turning East onto Main Street, from the North, when she struck Cayton, running completely over her. Burns stated she failed to see Cayton in the crosswalk.
Jodi Cayton was transported from the scene to KDH, by EMS, where she was flown to Louisville, Kentucky. Cayton's status is reported to be stable as of 3:15 PM (12/3/21). A toxicology report on the driver is pending, per standard operating procedures involving serious bodily injury accidents. Madison Police Patrolman Graham Heffelfinger is leading the accident investigation.
