The incident happened early Sunday morning in Dearborn County.

(Dearborn County, Ind.) - Early Sunday morning, Indiana State Troopers arrested a Cincinnati, Ohio woman after she drove intoxicated westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-74 in Dearborn County.

The incident resulted in a collision with a state trooper’s vehicle.

Shortly after 1:00 am, multiple troopers patrolling on I-74 overheard a Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office dispatch of a 2020 Toyota Camry, later determined to be driven by Erin Dowers, age 35, Cincinnati, Ohio, traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-74 near the Indiana/Ohio State Line. Other callers continued to report the wrong way driver as the vehicle continued westbound.

Troopers observed the vehicle traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes near the 161-mile marker. A short time later Dowers entered the median to try and avoid an ISP vehicle, but collided at a slow speed. She continued westbound before eventually being stopped.

After an investigation, it was determined that Erin Dowers was intoxicated.  She was arrested and transported to the Dearborn County Jail where she was incarcerated on preliminary charges of Operating While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving.
