Officials to Cut Ribbon on Cyber Academy in Butlerville

BUTLERVILLE - Governor Eric Holcomb joined officials from the Indiana National Guard and Ivy Tech Community College Wednesday to cut the ribbon on the new Ivy Tech Cyber Academy at Muscatatuck in Jennings County. The academy, located at the Muscatatuck Urban Training Center, will train military and civilian students in dealing with cyber threats.

Students who complete the 11-month, 60-credit program will earn an accelerated Cyber Security/Information Assurance associate of applied science degree from Ivy Tech Community College - Columbus. They will participate in training and testing events, in which they will have the opportunity to conduct offensive and defensive cyberspace operations, according to the Cyber Academy website. They can also earn a variety of industry-leading certifications.

"The nation requires a workforce that is relevant, agile and adaptable if it is to remain technically competitive in the global economy and successfully address the growing cyber threats from around the world," said Maj. Gen. Courtney P. Carr, Indiana's adjutant general.
