Norton King’s Daughters’ Health hosting community skin cancer screenings May 21

The screening will be at NO COST to the community

MADISON, Ind. (April 1, 2025) –Norton King’s Daughters’ Health Cancer Center will host a no-cost community skin cancer screening event Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 3 to 6 p.m., on the Norton King’s Daughters’ Health campus, 1373 E. State Road 62, Madison, Indiana. No appointment is required. Attendees will be seen in the order of their arrival.

The goal of the community skin cancer screening is to evaluate common sun-exposed areas, such as the head, neck, arms and legs. Attendees with a specific area of concern should notify the staff upon arrival. Screenings will take place in private rooms, and gowns will be available.

According the American Cancer Society, skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States. An estimated 5.4 million people in the U.S. are diagnosed with skin cancer each year. While basal and squamous cell carcinomas are the most common skin cancers, melanoma is the most serious, causing around 8,000 deaths per year in the U.S.

While the risk of skin cancer generally increases with age, it can develop at any time. Routinely check your skin for any changes. To reduce your risk of developing skin cancer, protect your skin by staying out of the sun during peak hours, wearing protective clothing and using approved sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30.
