MPD Arrest Two On Various Charges

(Madison, Ind.) - The City of Madison Police Department has recently made two arrests.

Both arrests occurred on Wednesday, September 23.

The first of those arrests was Robert D. Gibson, 31, of Paris Crossing. While on patrol, Officer Cameron Blankenship observed Gibson operating a Dodge van in the area of the Madison Wal-Mart.

With prior knowledge of Gibson’s active warrant, Blankenship executed a traffic stop and took Gibson into custody.

During the subsequent search of Gibson’s person, Officer Blankenship found a clear plastic baggie containing methamphetamine.

Gibson was arrested on the charges of an outstanding failure to appear warrant and possession of methamphetamine (level 6 felony).

The second arrest was Chasity Winters, 37, of Madison.

Madison Police responded to the Madison Wal-Mart in reference to a fleeing shoplifter. Upon arrival in the area of the business, Officer Brad Demaree and Nichole Midgett observed a silver Toyota fleeing the business at a high rate of speed.

When officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the vehicle fled north on Kentucky Ave., East on Virginia Ave. and North on Michigan Road, where Winters then turned into the TNT parking lot.

As officers attempted to take Winters into custody, she physically resisted.  The subsequent search found Winters to be in possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. 

Winters was arrested for the following charges; obstruction of justice (level 6 felony), possession of methamphetamine (level 6 felony), resisting law enforcement (level 6 felony vehicle), resisting law enforcement (class a misdemeanor physically), theft (class a misdemeanor), possession of paraphernalia (class a misdemeanor), reckless driving (class a misdemeanor), possession of marijuana (class b misdemeanor).
