MPD Arrest Three On Narcotic Related Charges

The three arrests came on separate occasions.

(Madison, Ind.) – It was a busy night for the City of Madison Police Department as they arrested three on narcotic-related charges.

At approximately 12:14 p.m. Madison Police received a report of narcotics possession at the Englewood Hotel. Upon arrival, Detectives Ricky Harris and Kyle Cutshaw met with Indiana State Patrol Officers in room #1 of the Englewood.

The occupants of the room were identified as Christopher L. Gilner, 31, of Madison, and Tausha D. Thomas, 39 of Hanover, the two were taken into custody for the following narcotic related charges.

Thomas faces the preliminary charges of possession of heroin (level 6 felony), possession of methamphetamine (level 6 felony), possession of marijuana (class A misdemeanor), and possession of paraphernalia (class A misdemeanor).

Glitner faces one preliminary charge of possession of a syringe (level 6 felony). All charges are alleged.

Later in the evening, Madison Police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at the Circle K on Clifty Drive. Investigating Officer Bradley Demaree found the vehicle to be occupied by Christian Horton, who had been involved in a physical altercation on an earlier date.

Probable cause to arrest Horton for the earlier battery had been established, as officers attempted to take Horton into custody, he physically resisted.

An open-air sniff of Horton’s vehicle was conducted by K9 Officer Brian Ashcraft and his partner Colt. The K9 indicated the presence of narcotics in the vehicle, which establishes probable cause to conduct a search of the vehicle.

The subsequent search of the vehicle revealed the presence of methamphetamine and paraphernalia in the vehicle.

Christian B. Horton 25, New Castle, Kentucky, faces the following preliminary alleged charges of; battery w/ bodily injury (class A misdemeanor), possession of paraphernalia (class A misdemeanor), resisting law enforcement (class A misdemeanor), possession of methamphetamine (level 6 felony).   Horton has the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.  All charges are alleged.
