(Ripley County, Ind.) – A murder charge has been made three months following the death of Krissy Jones.

Jones was found dead inside of a home on North County Road 700 West in Holton on January 11. The initial investigation indicated that Jones was the victim of homicide.

On Monday, March 29, Jordan Knudson was charged with Murder (level 1 felony) in the Ripley County Circuit Court.

The cause of Jones’ death was the result of multiple gunshot wounds to the head, according to the probable cause affidavit. Further evidence revealed that the gunshot wounds were made by a .410 caliber gun.

According to court documents, Knudson’s parents had purchased a .410 pump shotgun and three boxes of shells in July 2020. Documents state that the gun went missing from the Knudson residence on the day of Jones’ death, along with a box of shells.

Following the execution of a search warrant of the Knudson residence on January 12, detectives stated that they located evidence of .410 shotgun shells recovered from a burn site, in addition to unspent shells on the basement floor.

On January 19, ISP Versailles Post received a letter in the mail. The letter was anonymous and suggested who may currently have the .410 shotgun. The writing was made by an instrument having red ink. Further examination of the letter revealed a latent fingerprint, which was identified to be Jordan Knudson's.

The investigation also revealed Jones' medical records, which showed that she was present at the ER on December 15, 2020, with left side head pain and knots on the left side of her head. She told medical personnel, "he hits me in the head 'cause it doesn't bruise as bad."

Jones reported being physically abused frequently with multiple episodes of being knocked out by her "boyfriend." She filed a Protective Order against Knudson in December 2020. According to court documents, the Protective Order was granted but never formally served to Knudson. He told ISP detectives that he was aware of the order at or near the time Jones filed it.

Based on the findings presented in Ripley Circuit Court, the court found that there was sufficient evidence for a warrant for the arrest of Jordan Knudson.
