MAN ARRESTED AFTER THREAT WITH KNIFE

On Sunday, the Madison Police Department received a call in reference to a male subject holding a knife to another male subject at Hinkles, downtown Madison Indiana. As officers were traveling to the call, the caller stated the suspect left on foot and provided dispatch with a description. Lt. Derk Napier was in the area and observed a subject matching the description walking in the area.

Lt. Napier exited his patrol car and yelled out to the subject. The subject initially ignored Lt. Napier and continued walking. The male subject then removed something from his jacket and threw it in the flower bed. The male subject then turned and walked toward Lt. Napier.

The male subject was identified as Joseph A. Jackson Age 57 of Summersville Kentucky. Jefferson County Deputy CJ Miller arrived to assist. Lt. Napier was able to locate a knife in the flower bed. As officers were standing with Jackson, several subjects began running toward them identifying Jackson as the one with the knife. One of the subjects was bleeding and stated that Jackson had cut him. The victim refused treatment.

Jackson was placed under arrest and transported to the Jefferson County Jail. Ptl. James Lee and Ptl. Adam Guzman assisted with the investigation.
