Mammography Grant Continues for Scott County

Since 2006, the community has received nearly $150,000 in grants making them able to provide screening mammograms and diagnostic breast procedures.

(Scottsburg, Ind.) – With breast cancer, early detection is key to surviving the disease.

Through a collaboration between Scott Memorial Health and Norton Healthcare Foundation, the long-standing Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness Trust Grant is now available for residents in Scott as well as surrounding counties.

Since 2006, the community has received nearly $150,000 in grants making them able to provide screening mammograms and diagnostic breast procedures.

Grants provided by the Indiana Breast Cancer Trust helps ensure that Hoosiers have access to these important cancer screenings. Funding for the award grants come through the sale of the Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness license plate.

The license plate fee is $40, and the funds help provide mammogram screening for members of the community that are struggling financially. Since 2006, there have been 9 women diagnosed with breast cancer through the grants awarded to the community.

These grants are one of the main weapons in the fight against breast cancer for community members who are not insured or are financially compromised. Women in the community who do not have insurance benefits, wellness benefits, or high insurance deductibles are encouraged to apply.
