Madison Woman Arrested For Narcotics Possession

Dealing methamphetamine and other narcotic related charges.

Early Tuesday morning , Madison Police arrested Dana L. Kernan 48, Madison, Indiana, for dealing methamphetamine and other narcotic related charges.  Kernan was taken into custody by Patrolman Curtis Shelpman after conducting a traffic stop on the vehicle in which she was operating.  Shelpman had prior knowledge of Kernan's suspended driving status, and confirmed it with dispatch prior to the stop.  

Further investigation led to the discovery of methamphetamine and various other narcotics in Kernan's vehicle.  The amount of meth and the individual packaging led to the level 3 dealing charge.  In addition to the drugs, officers seized a sizable amount of cash as well.  

Dana L. Kernan faces the following preliminary alleged charges - L-3 Dealing in methamphetamine - L-5 Possession of methamphetamine - L-6 Possession of a legend drug - Class "A" misdemeanor Possession of paraphernalia - Class "A" misdemeanor Driving while suspended.(prior). Kernan has the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.  Shelpman was assisted by Officers Josh Nolan and Season Jackson.
