Madison Man Arrested on Domestic Abuse Charges

All charges are alleges and the suspect has the presumption of innocence until proven guilty.

(Madison, Ind.) - Early Tuesday morning on April 7, officers with the Madison Police Department were dispatched to the 2800 block of Windridge Drive in reference to a domestic violence incident.

Sr. Patrolman Seth Melton was leading the investigation, were he was able to establish probable cause to arrest Cory A. Coffey, 24, of Madison.

Coffey reportedly struck the female victim and took her cell phone which prevented her from calling 911.Ma

Coffey was initially charged with domestic battery in the presence of a child less than 14 years of age, a level 6 felony, and interference with the reporting of a crime, class A misdemeanor.

It was also reported to the initial responding officers that Coffey reportedly engaged in inappropriate behavior with a child. Madison Police Detectives Ricky Harris and Kyle Cutshaw followed up on the allegation of child molestation, level 4 felony, against Coffey.

All charges are alleges and the suspect has the presumption of innocence until proven guilty.
