Madison-Hanover Connector Trail Groundbreaking Ceremony Set for August 14, 2025

Madison, Indiana (July 28, 2025) –Due to scheduling conflicts and unforeseen circumstances, the City of Madison, in partnership with One Southern Indiana Regional Development Authority and the Heritage Trail Conservancy, has rescheduled the groundbreaking ceremony for Phase I of the Madison-Hanover Connector Trail. The event will now take place on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 11 AM.

This exciting infrastructure project will extend from downtown Madison, branching off the existing Heritage Trail, across Crooked Creek and west toward Clifty Falls State Park. Once complete, the trail will provide a scenic and seamless connection between downtown Madison and the south entrance of Clifty Falls, enhancing mobility and access for bicyclists, walkers, and hikers. This project is a key initiative in the City’s 5-Year Parks Master Plan and supports the regional vision of a world-class trail system spanning five counties.

When: Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 11 AM

Where: The trailhead parking lot on McIntire Street (just north of Main Street)

Who: Madison’s Mayor Bob G. Courtney, representatives from One Southern Indiana Regional Development Authority, Heritage Trail Conservancy officials and local and regional stakeholders.

The Madison-Hanover Connector Trail is a transformative investment in outdoor recreation, regional connectivity, and quality of life. Phase I marks the beginning of a multi-phase effort to build safer, more accessible trail systems that link key community assets and support long-term economic and recreational growth.
