CAMPBELLSBURG, Ky. (02/25/2023) – On Friday February 24, 2023 at approximately 1121 pm Kentucky State Police Post 5 in Campbellsburg received a 911 call in reference to a two (2) vehicle collision in Henry County on Interstate 71 near the 37 mile marker. Multiple troopers as well as other first responders responded to the scene.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2013 Hyundai sedan being operated by Alan Hernandez was traveling south on Interstate 71 when for an unknown reason he exited off the roadway and went into the median. The vehicle continued traveling after entering the median before entering the northbound lane of Interstate 71.
A semi truck traveling north was unable to avoid striking the vehicle. Alan Hernandez,19 year old male of Crestwood, succumb to his injuries sustained in the collision. Henry County Coroner pronounced him deceased at the scene. Next of kin has been notified.
Kentucky State Police Post 5 is conducting the ongoing investigation. Kentucky State Police was assisted on scene by the Henry County EMS, Henry County Coroner, Campbellsburg Fire Department, and the Lake Jericho Fire Department.
