Two Kentucky lawmakers are working to pass a hands-free driving bill that has been pre-filed for the upcoming session.
Republican Representatives James Tipton and Steve Sheldon want to pass a bill that would ban drivers from using handheld devices while driving.
The fine for the first offense would be 100-dollars and would go up to 200-dollars for offenses after that.
Lori Hawkins with AAA says nine people die every day because of distracted driving. "Just two seconds of distracted driving can actually double your chances of a crash," said Hawkins.
20 other states already have hands-free laws.
