(Frankfort, Ky.) – All bars and restaurants are being shut down in Kentucky.

Governor Andy Beshear announced Monday morning that all restaurants and bars will be closed to in-person traffic across the state, at this time takeout is the only available option from restaurants.

Beshear added that he hopes to have all the restaurants and bars closed by 5:00 p.m. tonight and that he is waving the period of unemployment in the state.

"I am not going to be the governor who acts two weeks too late," said Beshear. "I will continue to act swiftly to limit the spread and reduce the risk to Kentuckians, particularly those vulnerable populations. My promise to Kentuckians is we will work through this together and make sure we get through this."

This announcement comes on the heels of Ohio Governor Mike DeWine closing down the state's bars and restaurants.
