(Jefferson County, Ind.) – Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb proclaimed the week of May 10-16 as Hoosier Hospital week.

This proclamation recognizes the critical role hospitals across the state have played in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, while also providing other vital services. The Governor specifically highlighted “frontline caregivers and hospitals who have rapidly responded to the COVID-19 pandemic and have shown resilience in the face of this public health threat while working tirelessly and selflessly to keep Hoosiers safe and healthy.”

Brian Tabor, IHA President said, “We are grateful to the Governor for his leadership during this health emergency and we sincerely appreciate his support for hospitals and caregivers, Hoosiers know that they can count on hospitals to continue to care for not only COVID-19 patients but for all Hoosiers.”

Tabor also highlighted a statewide billboard campaign honoring hospitals and healthcare professionals during this special week made possible by a generous donation from Lamar Advertising Company.

The company donated 26 billboards throughout the state featuring an image from King’s Daughters’ Health featuring Erika Stiver and Ashley Field, two ICU nurses wearing protective equipment, and embracing during a quiet moment.

This image of the two will appear on billboards in Indianapolis, Lafayette, Terre Haute, Evansville, southwest Indiana, and northwest Indiana.

“We so appreciate Lamar’s generosity in donating these billboards thanking hospitals and health care professionals,” Tabor said adding, “Hoosiers have relied on hospitals to be there during this extraordinary time and they will continue to be there in the days, weeks, and months ahead caring not only for COVID-19 patients but for all in need.”
