Households will not pay more than 8.5% of their income for health coverage premiums.

(Madison, Ind.) – King’s Daughters’ Health reminds local families about a recent extension to the Healthcare Marketplace Open Enrollment period as part of President Biden’s “The American Rescue Plan of 2021.” Details are noted below:

On March 23, 2021, President Biden announced the extension of the Marketplace COVID Special Enrollment Period to August 15, 2021, giving consumers additional time to access health coverage or to update their plans to take advantage of new cost saving provisions.

Increased Advanced Premium Tax Credits (APTC) – Starting April 1, 2021, consumers began to receive increased APTC. These new APTC amounts are expected to decrease premiums by an average of $50 per month per person. Households will not pay more than 8.5% of their income for health coverage premiums.

Working with King’s Daughters’ Health, ClaimAid Advocates are prepared to assist patients and community members with determining how the American Rescue Plan may impact them and their eligibility, including payments for COBRA premiums, increased assistance with APTC’s, and, if already enrolled, whether they may qualify for lower premiums.
ClaimAid representatives are available by calling 812-801-0744 or 812-801-067
