Jennings County Man Arrested On Arson Charges

(Jennings County, Ind.) - Deputies with the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office have responded to a total of three suspected arsons in the past three days.

The most recent was reported on May 24 just before midnight in Lovett Township. Upon arrival, various fire agencies and deputies found a residential structure fully engulfed.

Evidence gathered at the scene led deputies to a vehicle description as well as a possible suspect(s). Deputies began searching for and found the suspect vehicle after a few hours. During the course of the traffic stop, Deputy Thomas Mellencamp located Marijuana and paraphernalia inside the vehicle.

Further investigation led to probable cause to charge the driver, 18-year-old Hunter Spicer of Commiskey, with Arson. Two juvenile male passengers in the vehicle were believed to have been involved in the arsons as well and were also charged.

All three subjects were arrested on the following preliminary charges. Spicer is currently being held in the Jennings County Jail and both male juveniles are being held in a juvenile detention facility. All charges are preliminary charges and additional charges are possible.

Hunter Spicers charges are as follows:

• Arson (level 4 felony)
• Burglary (level 4 felony)
• Possession of Paraphernalia (class a misdemeanor)
• Possession of Marijuana (class a misdemeanor)
• Criminal Mischief (level 6 felony)
