(Jennings County, Ind.) – Jennings County is now declaring itself as a ‘Second Amendment Sanctuary.’

On Friday, January 17, Jennings County Sheriff Kenny Freeman, along with State Rep. Jim Lucas and North Vernon Mayor Mike Ochs, signed a resolution to claim Second Amendment sanctuary status for the county.

Regarding the rights of citizens' rights to bear arms.

With recent failed legislation on gun reform, and with things happening in Virginia Freeman was inspired to follow along and sign the resolution.

"We are going to follow the laws that are currently in place, so if you add any new restrictions we are not going to pay attention to them," said Freeman.

Jennings County joins a wave of more than 400 others in 20 states to make the designation.

"Article One Section 32 is the only gun law Indiana should have, the people should have the right to bear arms for the defense of themselves in the state," said Lucas.
