Jennings Co. High School Put On Lock Down After Threats Made

Late afternoon

Jennings County High School was placed on lock down yesterday afternoon after staff received a phone threat. Sgt. Andrew Richmond, spokesman for the North Vernon Police Department, said a staff member received the threat at 2:45 p.m. Richmond said the call included “threat of violence involving the school building.”

The School Resource Officer, Matt Staples was immediately notified and activated a response plan that included mobilizing on duty officers to make a security sweep of the school and surrounding area. No active threats were found and the lock down was lifted.

The investigation is ongoing.
