Jefferson County Man Arrested for Child Molesting

The investigation is ongoing.

                                               

On December 31, 2023, Detectives from the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post arrested a Madison, Indiana man on felony charges of child molestation and child exploitation following an investigation into allegations that had been made known to investigators earlier in the day.

The investigation began on December 31st, when an individual contacted investigators after discovering evidence of child molestation and child exploitation by Waylon J. Schlichtkrull, age 37.  Detectives were able to conduct a quick and thorough investigation that included a search warrant of a rural Jefferson County, Indiana address on the same day.  The investigation indicated that he had engaged in sexual contact with a juvenile female on multiple occasions in Jefferson County.

Schlichtkrull was soon observed operating a vehicle in the area.  A traffic stop was conducted and he was taken into custody without incident.

Schlichtkrull was arrested on preliminary charges of Child Molestation, Level 1 Felony, and Child Exploitation, Level 5 Felony.  He was incarcerated in the Jefferson County Jail pending an initial appearance in the Jefferson County Circuit Court.

The investigation is ongoing.

Indiana State Police Investigators were assisted by Deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Switzerland County Sheriff’s Office.
