Jefferson County EMA Installs New Weather Equipment

This new equipment is based on the National Weather Service (NWS) specifications, standards, and best practices.

(Jefferson County, Ind.) – The Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) has had some recent renovations which have included the addition of a state of the art weather station.

This new equipment is based on the National Weather Service (NWS) specifications, standards, and best practices.

This new system has only been installed for a few weeks, and in that time EMA has been running simulations, testing, and building data as part of prerequisites to making that data available to the NWS to be used for weather forecasting and storm prediction.

The instrument has been verified and is now continuously reporting its data to the NWS, to help aid in times of severe weather by providing accurate local data for our area.

Additionally, this data is available to the public. To view this data you can go online or download the PWS Monitor App from your app store.

Once you've downloaded the app enter the station name to monitor the data. The station name is KINMADIS16
