(Indianapolis, Ind.) – Youth hunters start preparing now for the kick-off of youth deer season.
The Indiana DNR has announced that youth deer season will begin on Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27.
On these dates, hunters who are 17 and younger can participate in a hunt but must be accompanied by an adult who is at least 18 years old.
Youth hunters can take an antlered deer and one or more doe, antlerless deer limit is determined by the bonus county quota for the county being hunted.
The DNR says youth hunters must possess a valid hunting license while in the field, unless exempt from needing a license. The youth’s adult partner must also possess a valid hunting license.
During youth deer season, all hunters are required to wear orange. The youth hunter may use a legal firearm, bow and arrow, or crossbow to take a dear.
