Four Teens Die In Jackson Co. Accident

Four others taken to the hospital

A crash has killed four people in Jackson County, all under the age of 17. The incident happened just after 11 p.m. Saturday in Cortland, Indiana on State Road 258, according to the Jackson County Sheriff Office. Eight juveniles were struck in the crash. Four of them died.

 

Naveah Law, 14 of Brownstown, Jenna A. Helton, 14, of Seymour and Brittany Watson, 15, of Bardstown were deceased at the scene. Martin Martinez, 16, of Seymour was flown by helicopter to Methodist Hospital and was deceased on arrival. 

 

Three of the four other victims hit by the car, all girls age 14 to 15, were injured and transported. The last, a 15-year-old-girl, was treated and released.

 

Another little girl, age 12, was not struck but was riding inside the vehicle when it was hit. She was transported to Schneck Medial by Jackson County Ambulance, treated and released.

 

 

A family was having a slumber birthday party for their daughter when the vehicle broke down a block from their home. The kids came out to push the vehicle and were struck from behind by another car.

 

Two of the four were students at Seymour High School.
