Former Trimble Co. Road Department Supervisor Case Going to Grand Jury

(Trimble County, KY.) - Former Trimble County Road Department supervisor Mike Stewart appeared in court today following his arrest on January 17, in Bedford on the charges of possession of methamphetamine, and possession of paraphernalia.

In December Kentucky State Police detective, Brodie Jodry had gotten word of reckless narcotics being used at the Trimble County Road Department.

In January, Jodry pulled up behind Stewart, who was parked in the Trimble County courthouse parking lot and turned on his lights to notify Stewart of his presence.

Jodry had a brief conversation with Stewart asking him if he knew of any use of drugs within the department. To which Stewart replied he did not.

With Stewart’s consent Jodry then searched the truck where he found a meth pipe with residue inside of a jacket, Stewart denied that the jacket was his. Immediately following the denial Jodry stated that Stewart placed his hand in his pocket, to which Jodry then pulled out Stewart’s hand and placed his own in the pocket which then revealed that Stewart had crystal meth on his person.

Stewart said that the meth wasn’t his, but was given to him by Casey Heilman, a now-former employee of the road crew.

The two then went back to the road department building where after an hour of questioning Stewart was then arrested on the charges of possession of methamphetamine, and possession of paraphernalia.

His first initial arraignment hearing was February 16, where both sides testified to the case.

In the courtroom today both sides presented the same arguments against the case, with the question from Stewart’s lawyer if Jodry had read Stewart his Marinda Rights before the questioning process.

Jodry then said, “I did not read him his rights due to the fact that he was not in handcuffs, which is when the rights must be read, I did, however, tell him multiple times that he does not have to talk to me throughout the hour.”

It was then decided by the Judge that the trial will be moving to Trimble County Grand Jury, the date is to be decided.
