Florida Man Arrested Following Traffic Stop By MPD

Vehicle he was driving was reported stolen

April 9, 2022, at approximately 11:00 AM Patrol / K-9 Officer Trent Smith executed a traffic stop on a reported stolen vehicle at Wilson Ave. and Industrial Drive.  The vehicle, a 2018 Gray Nissan Rogue, was reported stolen out of the State of Florida.  

 The lone occupant in the vehicle was identified as Joshua J. Sims, 48, Florida, Sims was taken into custody without incident.  The subsequent search of the vehicle found Sims to be in possession of a legendary drug.  Sims was also found to be operating the vehicle without ever receiving a driver's license. 

Joshua Sims was transported to the Jefferson County Jail where he faces preliminary alleged charges of; possession of a stolen vehicle L-5 felony, possession of a legend drive L-6 felony and operator never licenses class A misdemeanor.  Sims has the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.  Patrolman Smith was assisted by Sr. Patrolman Chad Wehner.
