Madison Man arrested on drug charges

Local Man Arrested

On Thursday, May 13th, 2021, Madison Police arrested Robert D. Gibson for dealing methamphetamine. The charges stem from an ongoing investigation by Madison Police Detectives Kyle Cutshaw and Ricky Harris. Gibson had unknowingly sold methamphetamine to the detectives during controlled drug purchases on several prior occasions.

On May 13, 2021, Gibson was observed by Detective Cutshaw driving a black Chevrolet S-10 in downtown Madison. Cutshaw radioed the information to Patrolman Trent Smith of MPD, who conducted a traffic stop based on the fact that Gibson's drivers license was suspended. During the stop, methamphetamine was located on Gibson's person.

Gibson was arrested on the charge of dealing methamphetamine, a level four felony, and possession of methamphetamine, a level six felony. Additional charges for the prior controlled drug transactions are expected to be filed at a later time.

All criminal charges are alleged, and Robert D. Gibson has the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.
