(Madison, Ind.) – Over the past three weeks, the Indiana Department of Corrections has been recognizing silent heroes who work in corrections facilities around the state.

Silent heroes are defined as “those members of the team who provide support and work behind the scenes to get things done. These teammates often get overlooked because they care more about their work than their ego. And they make things happen without fanfare or expectation of reward.”

This week Correctional Officer Sharon Dean from the Madison Correctional Facility was recognized as a silent hero.

Ofc. Dean has worked for the Department of Correction since 2017 as a Correctional Officer. Prior to working at the department, Dean worked for the Madison State Hospital.

Ofc. Dean will work any post without complaint and seems to truly enjoy working in corrections,” said Warden Jan Davis.

Ofc. Dean can usually be found working at the rear entry/ exit point or transporting work release offenders to their places of employment.
