Arrest Made For Stolen Vehicle, Dealing Methamphetamine

Dispatch advised deputies that the vehicle had been reported stolen earlier that morning in Jefferson County.

 

(Jennings County, Ind.) - On October 10, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Jennings County Dispatch received a call in reference to a vehicle traveling South bound on SR 3 from the Vernon area.  Dispatch advised Jennings County Deputies that the vehicle, a Maroon in color GMC Yukon, had been reported stolen earlier that morning in Jefferson County.

Deputy Ian McPherson and Reserve Deputy Dylan Smock responded to the area where upon arrival, deputies located a vehicle matching that description backed into a driveway of a residence in the 300 South block of SR 3. 

Deputy McPherson observed a male subject walking near a pole barn next to the vehicle. 

Deputy McPherson made contact with the male subject, who was later identified as Darren Keith Stewart,26, of Madison.  During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that the Maroon GMC Yukon was the stolen GMC Yukon from Jefferson County.  As the investigation continued, Deputy McPherson located over 30 grams of Methamphetamine, digital scales and packaging material.

Darren Keith Stewart was taken into custody without incident and later transported to the Jennings County Jail where he was remanded over to Jail staff and is currently being held on a $10,055.00 cash bond on the following charges:

- Dealing Methamphetamine- L2 Felony

- Possession of Methamphetamine- L4 Felony

- Possession of a stolen vehicle -L6 Felony

- Illegal Possession of a Syringe- L6 Felony
