Heat indices in the upper 90s and low 100s
Temperatures rise into the low to mid 90s by early afternoon with humidity values high enough to push heat indices into the mid-upper 90s. For early October, this is 25-30 degrees above normal.
Persons sensitive to heat should limit time spent outdoors today. Frequent breaks in the shade and plenty of water for those who must be out during the hottest part of the day.
In addition, heat indices will top out in the upper 90s and low 100s. Take necessary heat safety precautions if planning to be outdoors for extended periods of time.
Drought conditions and unseasonably hot temperatures will continue to create an elevated wildland fire danger today. Avoid any unnecessary burning and heed any local burn restrictions and bans.
