Add Kentucky To The List Of "Fair Pay To Play Act"

A recruiting tool?

A Kentucky lawmaker is drafting a bill that would allow college student-athletes to receive compensation for their names, images, and likenesses.

State Senator Morgan McGarvey's bill is modeled after the Fair Pay to Play Act signed into law Monday in California.

State lawmakers from Nevada, Pennsylvania, Florida, Minnesota and now Kentucky have announced plays to write copycat bills in their respective states.

The bill would make it illegal for colleges to prevent an athlete from profiting by selling the rights to their name, image, or likeness to a third party.

It is a sign that the NCAA’s defenses are weakening.
