(Bedford, Ky.) - The Kentucky State Police were investigating the sale of methamphetamines in the department which lead to 5 out of the 9 employees being fired.
Police then arrested Road Director Michael Stewart on charges of possession of drugs and paraphernalia.
The county has a no- drug policy for their workers but employees were never tested.
WDRB reported that after the arrest of Stewart, Judge-Executive Todd Pollock ordered a nine-person drug test for the department.
Where Pollock found one refused to take the test, two others tried to tamper with the test, and another failed the test.
WDRB also reported that Pollock said he believes the drug bust is a major black eye for the county, and Pollok plans to institute pre-employment drug screens and random drug testing.
Stewart’s bond was set at $1,000. He was released from jail and is scheduled to appear in court on February 4.
