2 hour standoff, 2 arrested in Vevay

Vevay Police Department attempted to serve an arrest warrant

On Wednesday, the Vevay Police Department attempted to serve an arrest warrant for a Michael Thomas of Vevay, in the 10 block of Swiss Ave. The arrest warrant was for possession of a narcotic drug and possession of paraphernalia. Thomas barricaded himself inside a residence he was visiting. After a 2 hour standoff, Thomas was taken into custody, after Thomas exited the residence on his own. 
After subsequent search of the residence that Thomas was visiting, resulted in the following charges;

Michael Thomas is charged the following crimes:
1. Possession of Syringe, Level 6 felony
2. Residential Entry, Level 6 Felony
3. Resisting Law enforcement, Class A Misdemeanor
4. Interfering with a Law Enforcement Officer's Duties, Class A 
Misdemeanor
5. Enhancement Habitual Offender

Irish Broyles is charged with the following crimes:
1. Assisting a Criminal, Level 6 Felony
2. Possession of a Syringe, Level 6 Felony


The Vevay Police were assisted by the Indiana State Police, Switzerland County Sheriff's Office, and Jeff Craig Fire Department.

We are asking anyone who has drug information or information on any other crimes to contact the Vevay Police Department at 812-427-3737. All persons charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
