Two children sustained injuries from a fire that broke out Wednesday afternoon near Marysville in northeast Clark County, Indiana.

According to the Clark County Sheriff's Office, the state fire marshal is investigating a fire that broke out just after 12:30 p.m. on Nabb New Washington Road West. The New Washington Fire Department said the first units on scene were met with smoke coming from the second story of a residential structure.

David Hosick, director of public affairs with the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, said one of the victims was a 15-month-old and was taken to Children's Hospital in Louisville in critical condition.

Hosick said a 3-year-old was also taken to the hospital in serious condition.

A third child was also there but wasn't injured. According to the child, the children were playing with a lighter before the fire began.
